Feride is a young, energetic, and brave
woman. When she was a little girl, she was very lively
and active. Because she climbed trees all the time, her
family called her "Çalıkuşu" (The Wren). This is her story
—a story of love, independence, and a long journey
through the villages of Anatolia.
The Early Years Feride grew up in Istanbul. She was an
orphan because she lost her parents at a young age. She
went to a French boarding school. During her summer
holidays, she stayed with her aunt. There, she met her
cousin, Kâmuran. Kâmuran was handsome and welleducated.
As time passed, Feride and Kâmuran fell in love
and decided to get married.
The Turning Point Just before their wedding, Feride
learned a painful secret. Kâmuran had a relationship with
another woman in Europe. Feride felt deeply hurt and
betrayed. She realized she could not marry him anymore.
In the middle of the night, she left her home and Istanbul.
She decided to become a teacher and start a new life
alone.
Life in Anatolia Feride traveled to small, distant villages
in Anatolia to teach. Life was not easy there. The schools
were old, and the villages were poor. However, Feride
never gave up. She worked very hard to help her students.
She became a "mother" to an orphan girl named Munise.
People in the villages admired her beauty and her strong
character. She faced many difficulties and met many
different people, but she always stayed brave and honest.
Conclusion Feride's journey was not just about teaching; it
was about finding herself. She proved that a woman can
stand on her own feet and make a difference in the world.
Her story is a symbol of courage and modern Turkish
identity.
