One afternoon, I was perched on a high branch, hiding from
everyone. Kâmuran walked under the tree and looked up with a
small smile. "Feride, you should come down at once," he said
calmly. "You are no longer a little child; you are becoming a young
lady. It is time to act like one." I laughed and threw a handful of
leaves at him. "I will never grow up, Kâmuran! I will always
belong to the sky!" I shouted defiantly.
However, behind my laughter, my heart was racing. I started to
observe him secretly from a distance. I listened to his stories about
life in Paris and admired his intelligence. Without realizing it, my
childhood innocence was slowly turning into a deeper, more
complicated emotion. My path was being drawn, and at the end of
that path, there was Kâmuran.
